Updates
The Bleu desktop app updates itself from Bleu's own update server. Everything it installs is checked against a signature, so only genuine builds are accepted.
Checking for updates
A few seconds after Bleu opens, it quietly asks for the newest version. It says nothing unless it finds one.
You can ask yourself with Help → Check for Updates…. A check you ask for always ends in a dialog you dismiss:
- No update available when nothing is newer.
- Couldn't check for updates, with Try again, when the server can't be reached.
- An offer to update, described below.
Installing an update
When a newer version exists, a dialog tells you so, with the release notes and two choices: Not now and Update now.
Update now shows a download progress bar (Cancel lets it go), then restarts Bleu into the new version. If your painting has unsaved changes, Bleu first asks Save, Don't save or Cancel, as Exit does.
Update automatically
Edit → Settings… → Update automatically makes Bleu fetch a new version quietly when it opens and restart into it without asking. If your painting has unsaved changes it asks instead. This is off by default. A failed quiet update says nothing and tries again at the next launch.
Your version
Help → About Bleu shows the version you are running. Versions follow semantic versioning, so a labelled version such as 0.0.2-alpha comes before 0.0.2.
